Chango  > Nature > Mt.St.Helens
10 Sep '07. Finally got a chance to climb one of the volcanic giants in our state - 2549 m (it was several hundred meters higher before the huge eruption in 1980).

Chango > Just above the timberline. We climbed over & along Monitor Ridge. The trail got pretty faint and rough. It really felt like climbing, all the way up.

Chango > Jay checking out the geologists' installation. They have some GPS receiver there and use it to monitor shifting of the earth's crust.
Chango > Zoomed in to the top, still relatively far from it. Is this a dust cloud, steam from the slumbering volvano, or just a regular cloud?
Chango > This snowpack has survived on the south slope of the mountain the whole summer!
